Entry requirements
Indian Certificate or Secondary Education or Class X – grade of 69% or higher
Indian Certificate or Secondary Education or Class X – grade of 51% or higher
Higher Secondary Certificate/ Senior Secondary School Certificate/ Class XII, with grade average of 50%
Higher Secondary Certificate/ Senior Secondary School Certificate/ Class XII, with grade average of 65%, including relevant subjects
Three and four-year Bachelors degrees from a recognised university in India, with:
- a GPA of at least 2.1 on the 4-pt GPA scale, OR
- GPA of at least 7.5 on the 10-pt GPA scale, OR
- 60% where percentage grades are used.

English Language Requirements
To study at Hartpury, you must demonstrate that your English language ability meets the requirements for university-level study. We accept a number of Secure English Language Tests (SELTs) for entry onto our degree courses, with IELTS being the most common.
We may also accept the following local qualification (this can vary by course):
- Higher Secondary School Certificate/Indian School Certificate – Standard XII from CBSE/CISCE/WBCHSEB/Maharashtra State Board/Andhra State Board/Telangana State Board/Tamil State Board/Kerela State Board/Karnataka State Board: Minimum Grade in English Language -70%
Please note:

This qualification must have been completed within the past 5 years prior to the start of an undergraduate course. However, if you have completed a bachelor’s degree taught and assessed in English within the past 3 years, we may accept Standard XII English Language regardless of when it was completed.
- Students from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, or Uttarakhand are required to provide an IELTS (or equivalent SELT).

International Scholarships
2025 Postgraduate Country Scholarship
We are offering scholarships of £5000 to Indian postgraduate students joining us in September 2025. The scholarship will be automatically awarded once your application is approved and paid in the form of a tuition fee discount. This award is for international fee-paying students that meet the following eligibility criteria:
- You must be an Indian national, permanently resident in India
- Applicants who are in receipt of any other Hartpury scholarship, bursary, funding or discount will not be eligible for this scholarship
- This scholarship will be awarded in the form of a tuition fee discount. No cash alternative is available
- If you are awarded a scholarship and wish to defer your entry to the University your scholarship will not be transferred; however you will be eligible to apply for scholarships applicable for the next academic year
- You must be confirmed as an international student for fee paying purposes (this information is contained in your offer letter)
- If you are in receipt of scholarship funding (consisting of either tuition fees or tuition fees and living costs) from an external body who will be invoiced directly by the University for fees (such as Government, charity or a private organisation), you are not eligible for this Scholarship
- This award is only available for postgraduate taught students i.e. MA/MSc/MRes who are studying full-time at Hartpury University for at least a full academic year. If you withdraw within your first year, your International Scholarship will be retracted and you will be expected to pay the international tuition fee dependant on the duration you have studied as detailed in Hartpury’s tuition fee policy
Hartpury graduate and former international rugby player Tudu Sailen made global headlines after he gained a scholarship to study a National Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence in Rugby) at Hartpury in 2008.
Dubbed the ‘Scrumdog Millionaire’ after he gained a well-publicised scholarship at Hartpury, Tudu continued at Hartpury to complete a foundation degree in sports coaching, and launched his personal fitness coaching company, Tudu Fitness, on his return to Kolkata.
In 2018, Tudu received Sports Illustrated India’s Community Development in Sport award for the contribution he makes to society through the Adibasi Rugby Foundation.
“One of the best experiences of my life has been at Hartpury and I am so grateful for the opportunity I got there. Today, whatever I am and whatever I have been able to give back to my community is because of rugby and the education and experience I have gained at Hartpury. There are so many memories to talk about and each one is exceptional. I sincerely hope that one day I am able to provide the kids and the community I work with, with the same opportunity I received at Hartpury.”
